The OS was so slow, so laden with errors, so unmanagable, and so painful to interact with that I've uninstalled it completely and am back to XP. SATA 2 hard-drives (not running as RAID as they were with XP PRO X64 because the drivers don't work), nVidia nForce 4 chipset, Sound Blaster Audigy-2 ZS.

These are woefully underpowered and can be up to half the speed of their Pentium 4 counterparts, which as I have mentioned before lag behind their AMD counterparts. the motherboard should have an nforce 3 or nforce 4 'chipset', both very groovy and come with sound, networking and a hardware firewall built in.

It is just plain NForce4 Ethernet. I haven't tested it on this mobo, but on a Tyan S2895. On this machine nve does work - as long I don't have memory ..... ie, where the cylinder groups aren't so large that seeks within them aren't almost as slow as inter-cg seeks and where the working set consists of only 1 cg.
